Meet Our Executive Director

Linda L. Mitchell is a lifelong educator with more than four decades of experience serving students and families. A graduate of North Carolina Central University, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education, with preparation in Elementary Grades K–5 and Middle Grades English Language Arts, and later returned to NCCU to earn her Master of School Administration.

Throughout her career, Linda has worked in a variety of educational settings and roles, giving her the opportunity to teach, mentor, encourage, and advocate for students with many different learning needs and life experiences. Those years reinforced a belief that has guided her work as an educator: children flourish when they are known as individuals, provided meaningful opportunities to learn, and surrounded by adults who recognize and nurture their potential.

After retiring from a traditional career in education, Linda discovered that her passion for teaching and serving families had not retired with her. That passion helped inspire Heritage Heights Academy Foundation, Inc. Her vision for Heritage Heights is to create educational opportunities beyond the traditional classroom through personalized academic support, enrichment experiences, leadership development, and strong partnerships with families and the community.

For Linda, education is about more than grades and test scores. It is about helping young people develop knowledge, confidence, curiosity, character, and a belief in what they can become.
